Underground Zine

This zine aims to draw attention to one of the unique features of Cedar City—the underground sheep tunnels. Large tunnels which run under the freeway are used to move livestock. These tunnels, however, have become an attraction not for their agricultural uses, but as an underground art scene for graffiti.

With this exciting concept of agriculture and art meeting in an unexpected environment, I created a zine to catalog this unusual collaboration. In creating this zine, textures were printed on the letterpress and digitized to become pieces for the illustrated sheep. Additionally, an alphabet of type was set on the letterpress. It was distressed, textured, printed, and digitized to create a typeface unique to the project, lending itself to the feeling of graffiti art and the underground art scene.

The elements printed on the letterpress were all digitized and then compiled digitally. The final zine was printed using fluorescent pink and black ink on a Risograph printer, resulting in a 4 in. x 5 in. publication.
